Support for New York Firefighters

NYFD1

On Friday the 21 September 2001 members of the Gibraltar City and Defence Fire Services joined in a fund raising venture together with GBC Radio. This was in aid of the families of the New York Fire Department fire-fighters who died tragically in their line of duty during the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre. The fire-fighters collected money throughout Gibraltar while GBC staged a roadshow. Approximately £15,000 was donated to this venture by the members of the community and visitors to the Rock.

A rather unique fund-raising event which Brigade members organised was held in Leonora’s Cave, part of the famous St. Michael’s cave system.
